Objective
The student is able to:
- describe the key basic concepts of the national economy, such as GDP, inflation, unemployment and economic growth, and their impact on society;
- analyse the importance of public finances and monetary policy;
- assess the impact of taxation, government debt and central bank measures on the economy;
- tell about the effects of the international economy and globalisation on the Finnish economy, companies and labour market.
- apply economic thinking to their own decisions, for example in the labour market and investment.
- describe the role of economic policy in the financing of the welfare state and assess the economic dimensions of sustainable development and the green transition.
