OBJECTIVES:

We will explore the possibilities of creating “Poetical Digital Storytelling Videos” which will be introduced from the Creative Europe DanceMe UP supported project (see below).

We will concentrate on environmental issues related to your teaching practice and the Green Actions project.

We will also focus upon TIME and the ways in which you as dancers/choreographers are able to use time in all aspects of your creative/pedagogical work.

GOALS:

1. To continue forward from our JS Bach and Igor Stravinsky projects from in Dance and Music 1, Dance and Music 2, two additional choreo-musical projects.

2. To further work with a kinetic sense of time, phrasing, and dynamics which we began in Dance and Music 1, and continued in Dance and Music 2

3. To develop creative approaches to environmental arts pedagogy: how to develop projects related to movement that engage children with kinetic sense of nature, recycling, and general awareness of our earth and their place in the world.

4. To explore the possibilities of short Digital Storytelling Videos using your mobile phones.

ASSIGNMENTS:

1. MOVEMENT STUDIES: In each class we will explore different aspects of the topics mentioned above. The Environmental theme will be part of much of this creative exploration. MOVEMENT STUDIES MAY be assigned, and they will be presented in the following classes. You will always be given a short amount of class time to prepare the MOVEMENT STUDIES.

2. POETICAL DIGITAL STORYTELLING VIDEOS: Using the instructional materials found at the DanceMe website you will all register so as to be able to log in:

http://www.danceme.eu/home/ http://www.danceme.eu/login/

There are a series of video instructional videos at this website above which will guide you through the creative and technical process of creating your own/individual video story based on a theme of the “environment. This includes, how to create a script, finding Creative Commons Copyright free music, open-source simple video editing programs, mobile phone as your camera, Etc.

The term “environment” is totally open to all aspects of your life: physical & mental perception of what is happening around you, within you, individually, in the community (your hometown, Turku, etc,), & globally. We will discuss this further in the class.
.
