Content scheduling

The course explores the performative and situational aspects of public art processes and practices, as well as factors influencing design. During the course, participants will explore new ways to share, perform and / or showcase their work in a public space, this time on Instagram.

The course serves as a common framework for each participant to develop their own artistic work, share experiences online and receive regular constructive feedback from the teacher and classmates during Zoom meetings.

NOTE! It is not allowed to work physically with others during the course due to the corona situation! During the course you will use somme, WhattsApp group discussions, Skype, Zoom, Teams or other similar tools.

We will start with a joint gathering in Zoom on March 31st. at. 10 to introduce the course content and timetable. It is possible to book a series of individual discussions with the teacher for 30 min. Through Doodle (March 31, 1, 2, 7, 8, 14, 15 and 21 April 2020). Doodle list come email to you. Conversations can be held in Zoom, even on a WhatsApp video call (then email me and tel. If WhatsApp is easier)

The idea is to create an idea for a public art work that can be implemented / displayed on Instagram during the course. The theme is SPACE and OUR TIME: what they mean right now for everyone, what aspects are they interested in, how safe is it to be in public space, what is your state right now, how you handle time, etc. The work can be still, combine them.

The implementation consists of four parts

1. Lectures & Lecture Diary
• During the course 4 lectures will be given in Zoom. Lectures write a free-form lecture diary: summarize what you consider important, process, comment!
• Length max. 0.5 pages / lecture.
• If you are unable to attend the lecture, notify Susana.

2. Articles & Abstract
• Read two articles and write free-form abstracts.
• The abstract may contain not only text but also pictures and / or video. Text max. 2 pages / abstract.
• Return of the first abstract on April 10, the second on April 17 Return to Susana via email.

3. Get to know artists on Instagram
• Explore and search for artists and collectives using Instagram as a tool and in their art.

• What thoughts do you have about the works? What about Instagram as a place, tool, platform for art making?
• Send as one PDF (max. 5M) via email to Susana, DL 16.4.

4. Design assignment: Public artwork for Instagram
Design and create a work that can either be created or featured on Instagram. The starting point of the work should be performative. The work can be a still image, audio or video, or it can combine them. It can also be inclusive. You can design a book for publication on your Instagram feed or in the story section. The purpose is not to present your own work with pictures of the work, but to design the work for Instgram. The Pichaus of Preliminary Book Ideas 8.4. zoom (tell your idea and implementation max. 10 min / student). Presentation of the finished work 22.4.
