Objective

The students will be able to
• set goals for the artistic work
• develop the techniques and expression of their work
• carry out long-term artistic processes in a methodical and goal-oriented manner
• analyse their own work

Content

Supervised artistic work that may take place in connection with professional studies, other projects, through minor-subject studies under another degree programme or student exchange. The Artistic Work courses I–IV may be integrated into larger entities.

Content scheduling

The purpose of studio work is to engage in the analysis of one's own artistic process in relation to other group members and the field of art. The course consists of the student's goal-oriented work and discussions.
During the course he / she prepares a whole work, which can be partly presents in the form of an exhibition (HIOSTAMO) in the Gallery or in a self-procuring space for the whole group and the instructor. Köysirata galleria is reserved for the following periods: 6. - 19.1. / 20.1. - 2.2. / 3. - 16.2. / 17.2. - 1.3. and 2. - 16.3.2020 There will be max. 5 students and times will be drawn if needed.
One studio work period is four working weeks. However, it should be noted that the pupil must attend weekly group meetings, lectures, mid-term discussions and meetings with the teacher (also on Skype). The student reads articles for his / her own research and suggests documents or similar material of interest during the course.

Assessment methods and criteria

At the end of the course, a joint assessment discussion is held, after which the student reflects on what they have learned in writing. The evaluation focuses on the student's own development and the development of theoretical and practical processes, not the artistic end result.

Tasks have not been done or do not correspond to the assignment and have not participated in joint meetings, lectures, etc.

Student
• is able to apply the given instructions to their own work
• Is able to use key professional concepts and tools and apply them to his / her own expression

In addition to the above, the student
• is able to plan his / her own work and identify the stages of his / her work process
• is able to evaluate and measure the time required for study / job preparation
• works and operates in accordance with ethical and ecological principles
• is able to develop and deepen one's personal expression
• is able to place his work in the wider context and in the field of contemporary art

• Demonstrate mastery of the critical overlap of selected materials, working methods, and content with contemporary art discourses
