Objective

Student can:
- Understand the context of service business and productizations

- Define productizations´ needs in different cases

- Describe the life cycle of products

- Develop services to cover different needs in products´ life cycle

- Analyze costs and profits of services

- Define deliverables of services

- Describe performance and productivity differences between different service options

- Make reasoned selections between different offerings

- Make reasoned offers for clients in order to improve their performance and productivity

- Productizations processes and theories

- Products´ life cycles

- Cost and profit analyzes of service business

- Trade-offs and decision making between services

- Selling and sourcing industrial services

Teaching methods

Exploratory Learning/Inquiry Based Learning (IBL), Active Learning. Team-based Learning:
IBL: problem solving – students identify information needs, formulate research questions, search appropriate information, share and discuss information in group meetings, use information and insights to develop/describe an outcome – in this course a solution (product+Services) for a defined customer group.

 
Team-based learning: together – students define information needs, find answers to questions, solve tasks and formulate an outcome. Each student should participate actively in and come well prepared to all the group activities. Sharing is the key. Co-creation should happen in dialoque.

Exam schedules

No exam, therefore there is no possibility to redo the returned or not returned tasks.

The assessment of this course is not based on a final exam but on separate learning assignments, all assignments (0-5 and pass/fail) must be submitted by the deadline set by the teacher and an accepted study attainment cannot be improved.
Fail/pass assessment is used in some assignments (self assessment and peer-review).

Individual task Key Learning Notes - the student shows his/her learning. Contains realizations, ideas, discussions, tasks set by the team, searched information, analysis.... Every time learning happens, a note should be written.

Assessment methods and criteria

Learning by doing that the portfolio/Key Learning Notes and Group work demonstrates, workshops.

Assessment primarily on individual portfolio, Key Learning Notes. Group work .

Fail/pass assessment is used in some assignments (self assessment and peer-review). 

Assessment criteria, fail (0)

The student has not been active in group work and has not been present in the lectures. There are fundamental flaws in know-how, activity and deliverables. As an example, the student has not done required information search, has not read required literature or has not used the tools or theories, not participated to presentations, tasks are missing or returned after the deadline. No COPYPASTE is allowed.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

The student is able to use business terms and theories when she/he is explaining his/her findings and observations. Can describe, classify and list. The output describes the phenomena, but does not contain deliberation or insights.

Assessment criteria, good (3-4)

The student understands the big picture and uses theories to describe it. Shows ability to apply some basic principles and is able to make combinations. Uses acquired materials.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to understand critical success factors of an industry and a company, understands theory and is able to motivate his/her findings. Is able to see areas that needs to be developed and thinks critically. Materials of high quality has been found and used correctly.
