Objective

The target of the module is to familiarize student to apply thermal physics and thermodynamics to dimensioning thermal machines and processes.
After completing the study module, student can:
- calculate the thermal expansion of matter
- determine the state of gas and vapor, and calculate their changes
- determine energy balance
- determine the thermal efficiency of heat engines and power coefficient of heat pump and cooling machine
- evaluate the energy efficiency of common machines.

- - pressure, temperature, measurement
- thermal expansion
- heat capacity
- ideal gas law, liquid and its vapor, change of state
- laws of thermodynamics, energy balance, thermal efficiency
- principles and cycles of heat engines and pumps
- properties of moisturized air, principles of air conditioning.
