Objective

Preclinical Training in Surgical Nursing 1 cr KIHOP

Students will
- Learn to perform surgical nursing taking into account patient safety
- Learn to plan, provide and evaluate individual care for surgical patients before and after the procedure
- Learn to provide guidance to surgical patients and use various effective guidance methods
- Become proficient in aseptic techniques and systematic work
- Practice documenting and reporting patient care at different stages of treatment
- Practice various assistance methods used in surgical nursing
- Know how to use patient examination, monitoring and care instruments safely in the main procedures related to surgical nursing

- Preoperative interviewing, examination and care plan
- Preoperative and postoperative observation and care of patients (care technology)
- Observation and care of surgical wounds
- Care of ostomy patients
- Patient guidance and assistance for mobility in connection with musculoskeletal disorders and injuries
