Training in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Women’s Care 1 cr SELIP
Objectives
Students will
- Practice the main examination and treatment methods for sexual and reproductive health
- Be able to name the key gynaecological instruments and their purpose
- Learn to support and help parturient women in urgent childbirth of a first-aid nature if no physician or midwife is available.
- Learn to provide basic counselling to breastfeeding mothers
- Learn to provide guidance in contraceptive use at different stages of life

- Basic gynaecological examination, gynaecological instruments and examination of breasts
- Introduction to contraceptives
- Performing pap tests
- Assistance in urgent, first-aid-like childbirth
- Breastfeeding counselling and breastfeeding aids

• 1 cr = 27 hours of students work
• Practices and simulations are divided in two session (2x8h lab/sim -practices in class room)
LAB 1 4h gynecological nursing (gynecological examination, instruments and taking Pap smear test, breast examination) and surveillance of pregnancy

Medical Math exam 1h

• Participation mandatory (if absent, all hours have to be compensated with other groups) Obs. it is not possible to compensate absent hours with written assignment.
• Pre-assignments can be found from online platform (Itslearning) and has to be done when coming to class. If assignment is not done, student cannot participate to session.

• For approval following tasks and duties have to be done:
o pre-assignment
o active participation to sessions (8 hours)
o medical math exam passed
