Objective

Midwifery during Parturition 7 cr

Objective
- Students will learn to plan, administer, document and assess the basic and obstetrical care of the parturient woman throughout childbirth.
- Students will understand the childbirth process and changes in it from the perspective of the woman and the foetus.
- Students will learn to provide guidance, advice and care to parturient women and their families.
- Students will learn to assess the mother’s need for pain relief throughout childbirth.
- Students will learn to independently plan and administer pain relief using nursing methods to the parturient woman.
- Students will know how to administer medicinal pain relief to the parturient woman in cooperation with the physician.
- Students will learn to independently deliver a baby in low-risk childbirth.
- Students learn to anticipate and identify cases where a low-risk delivery is turning into a high-risk delivery

Obstetrics and Pharmacology
Objectives
- Students will learn about the causes, symptoms and care of pathological pregnancies and deliveries and know how to act appropriately.
- Students will learn key and current pharmacological information in their field.
- Students will learn to read a CTG.
- Students will learn to assist the parturient woman in cases of shoulder dystocia.
- Students gain competence in childbirth analgesia.
