Objective

- identify the masticatory system as a whole, along with its function and abnormalities
- identify the system that consists of the temporomandibular joint, movements of the lower jaw and the teeth
- identify the epidemiology, aetiology and diagnostics of malocclusions
- describe the principles of examining a customer with a problem associated with occlusal physiology
- carry out the most common physiological occlusal treatments and methods for relaxing the masticatory muscles
- guide the patient to perform relaxation exercises on their masticatory muscles
- identify oral histology as well as changes and abnormalities in mucous membranes
- describe methods of oral surgery
- name the basic instruments and devices used in oral surgery
- describe the perioperative treatment process of an oral surgery patient
- take into account the importance of aseptic operations in oral surgery
- explain the oral health care needs in connection with oral surgery
- carry out the tasks of a dental hygienist in treatment involving oral surgery
