Objective

After completing the course, student:
- understands the means and goals of data visualization
- can build visualizations from a variety of data
- can use images, graphs, animations and videos in a presentation
- can combine multiple visualizations to make a complete story/presentation.

Content

In the module students will learn basics of gathering information and data and preparing the data to be visualized. Learning to find stories in the data and building a presentations from it using storytelling methods, images, graphics, animations and video. During the course students will be introduced to variety of different tools to build these visualizations and presentations.

Teaching methods

Lecturers and discussions, practical training on infographics, vector graphics, image editing and video editing. Designing, creating and giving an online presentation supported by a multimedia presentation

Student workload

Students will design and make their own presentation during the course

Evaluation scale

H-5

Assessment methods and criteria

Assessment is based on the presentation (75 %) and active participation in online activities (25 %). There will be no examination. Grading 1–5.
