Objective

The student knows the refining methods of crude oil as well as the properties, requirements and classifications of motoring gasoline, diesel fuel and lubricants. He or she is able to describe the possibilities of alternative fuels in order to lower the greenhouse impact of fuel combustion. He or she is capable of utilizing his or her knowledge about lubrication mechanisms and selection of correct lubricants for the purpose in question.

Content

FUEL TECHNOLOGY: Motor gasoline refining, gasoline requirements, key figures and additives, low-emitting gasoline qualities, gasoline injection systems, gasoline in the future.
Diesel fuel refining, requirements and key figures, cold-climate operation and operating properties, environmental properties of diesel, diesel injection systems, diesel in the future.
Alternative fuels (gaseous products, alcohols, biofuels and renewable fuels, synthetic fuels, hydrogen).
