Objective

ADVANCED STUDIES IN CHILD, ADOLESCENT AND FAMILY NURSING 5 ECTS LAPSY

Objectives
Students will learn to use evidence-based knowledge when providing demanding nursing of children and adolescents.
Students will
• Deepen their competence in the clinical examination of child patients
• Enhance their professional competence in the acute nursing of children and adolescents and of long-term child patients.
• Learn to guide and support children and their families in the nursing of a critically ill and dying child
• Learn to recognise the special features of nursing of sick neonatal and premature infants
• Deepen their competence in the nursing of surgical child patients
• Deepen their competence in the mental health nursing of children and adolescents and know how to support children and families by means of nursing methods
• Deepen their competence in the pharmacotherapy and fluid therapy of children and adolescents
• Learn to assess their activities in the work community and their professional development in the context of nursing of children and adolescents

Contents
• Clinical examination and observation of child patients and the use of examination results to support care-related decision-making
• Demanding health problems and disorders of children and adolescents:
• Acute nursing of children and adolescents
• Nursing of sick neonatal or premature infants
• Nursing of children and adolescents with a heart condition
• Nursing of children and adolescents with cancer
• Treatment of children and adolescents with neurological health problems
• Intensive care nursing of children and adolescents
• Demanding surgical nursing of children and adolescents
• Nursing of critically ill and dying children
• Nursing of children and adolescents with mental health problems
• Family nursing in demanding cases of sick children
• Demanding pharmacology and fluid therapy of children and adolescents
• Self-assessment of work and professional development in the context of nursing of children and adolescents
