Objective
After a completed study unit the student
- has a grasp of the relevant machine tools, NC programming and cutting tools, including the parameters and cutting geometry of the cutting tools, and
- is capable of devising a machining plan and of selecting the correct machine tool, the method of securing the tool, and the cutting parameters.

Evaluation methods and criteria
Kurssin arvosana muodostuu seuraavasti:
- Tentti/tentit 50% (arvostelu 0-5)
- Lopputyö 50 % (arvostelu 0-5)
- Laboratorio harjoitus (arvostelu hyväksytty / hylätty)
Jokainen osa-alue tulee olla suoritettuna hyväksytysti, jotta loppuarvosanan saaminen on mahdollista. Lopputyöt esitetään kurssin viimeisillä kerroilla, toisen ryhmän opponoidessa.
Viikkotenteillä tenteillä on mahdollista korottaa lopullista tentti arvosanaa +0.5 numeroa. Viikkotentti katsotaan hyväksytyksi, kun vastauksista on oikein yli 65%. Viikkotenttejä on yhteensä 11, joista hyväksyttyjä täytyy olla 9 tai enemmän, jotta on oikeutettu korottavaan arvosanaan.
