Advanced Course in Concrete StructuresLaajuus (5 cr)
Code: TE00CS82
Credits
5 op
Objective
The student is able to design and dimension demanding reinforced concrete structures and building components for both ultimate and service limit states. They can apply expertise related to the functioning of structural systems to reinforced concrete structures.
Content
• Design and dimensioning of reinforced concrete slabs (orthotropic slabs, continuous slabs, column slabs)
• Calculation methods for slabs (MPB)
• Dimensioning of slab structures, bending, shear, punching
• Foundations (pile/rock foundations, earth pressure walls, raft foundations)
• Serviceability limit state design; Modeling of reinforced concrete structures in finite element analysis: stress calculation, crack width calculation, deflection calculation, limiting crack width and deflection
• Stiffening and ductility of concrete structures
• Prestressed concrete structures
