Objective
• Knows the differences between business-to-business and consumer marketing legislation.
• Can identify marketing self-regulatory guidelines.
• Can search for relevant information on legislation, e.g. in Finlex.
• Is able to identify problems in marketing practices from marketing law point of view.
• Be familiar with the dispute resolution system of marketing law.

A multiple-choice exam on the learning platform at the last session. The schedule of retakes is agreed with the students.

Content scheduling
The overall picture of marketing rights:
- Business-to-business marketing law (e.g., the Unfair Business Practices Act) and greenwashing vs. marketing under the provisions of the Act.
- Consumer marketing law (Consumer Protection Act) and greenwashing vs. marketing under the provisions of the Act.
- Industry self-regulatory guidelines, marketing in accordance with good business practice (International Chamber of Commerce Marketing Code 2018, Consumer Ombudsman Guidelines)
- Dispute resolution system for marketing rules: courts (Market Court, District Court/Court/Supreme Court) and recommenders (Consumer Ombudsman, Central Chamber of Commerce Business Conduct Committee)
- Marketing Court rulings on misleading, comparative, and unfair marketing in the textile, packaging and other sectors.
