Objective
This course offers the frame of reference, within which the student is given an opportunity to master key physical research skills and laboratory work together with characteristic approaches in engineering:
- Make use of The International System of Units to interpret and explain engineering knowledge.
- Interpret, solve and report measurement based physical quantity equations together with their results and variations in physical quantities and their influences.
- Explain dependences between physical quantities by defining new physical quantities and interpreting natural phenomena.
- Evaluate validity and application of physical and engineering concepts, equipments and methods used in research.
- Generalize fundamental physical concepts and principles together with fundamental interactions and conservation laws as unifying element in physical phenomena.

Teaching methods
Opintojakso sisältää fysikaalisiin perusmittauksiin liittyvää suunnittelua, laboratoriotyöskentelyä tiimeissä sekä tutkimusten raportointia.
Exam schedules
Ei tenttiä. Opintojakso koostuu osasuorituksista.
International connections
Lähi-/etäopetus, laboratoriotyöskentely tiimeissä, sähköinen oppimisympäristö.
Opintojaksolla kannustetaaan soveltamaan vastuullisuuden ja kestävän kehityksen periaatteita.
Student workload
Toteutus ECTS mukaisesti.
Opiskelija käyttää aikaa sisällön läpikäyntiin, laboratoriotyöskentelyn suunnitteluun ja toteuttamiseen sekä raportointiin.
Opintojaksolla työskennellään työryhmässä, jonka omilla työvuoroilla on läsnäolopakko. Raportointiin voi käyttää vain työryhmän omia havaintoja.
Content scheduling
Opintojaksolla käsiteltävät sisällöt, seuraavassa järjestyksessä:
- Perehdyttäminen laboratoriotyöskentelyyn fysiikan laboratoriossa. Työturvallisuus ja ympäristönsuojelu fysiikan laboratoriossa.
- Perustason fysikaaliset laboratoriotyöt. Työryhmän työselostukset ja portfolio.
- Yhteinen laboratoriotyö. Työryhmän tutkimusraportti

Assessment methods and criteria
Opiskelijan osaamista arvioidaan tutkimusraportin ja työselostuksista laaditun portfolion perusteella. Työkierron jälkeen palautettavan portfolion ja tutkimusraporttityön jälkeen palautettavan tutkimusraportin arvioinnin tekee opettaja. Fysikaalisen tutkimuksen arvosana muodostuu opiskelijatiimin tutkimusraportista saaman arvosanan sekä siihen laskevasti, neutraalisti tai korottavasti vaikuttavan portfolion perusteella.
Jokainen työkierron työ ja tutkimusraporttityö on suoritettava ajallaan sekä portfolion ja tutkimusraportin palautukset on tehtävä palautuspäivään mennessä.
Hyväksytyn suorituksen arviointeja ei voi korottaa.
