Objectives
· knows the basics of the structure and function of the nervous system and the endocrine system and the factors behind them
• knows the ethical principles of the care of older people and understands old age as a life stage.
• knows and recognises changes related to ageing.
• is familiar with and able to use methods of nursing to assess and maintain the health, functional capacity and resources of an older person as well as digital devices and applications.
• can assess the need for care of elderly patients who have suddenly become ill.
• is familiar with the most usual memory disorders, their care and service chain, and the principles of encountering and directing people with memory disorders.
• is familiar with the significance of nutrition in the care of an elderly person and is able to plan, implement and assess the nutrition of older people in different situations in cooperation with a multidisciplinary network of experts.
• knows how to plan, implement and assess safe and effective pharmacotherapy for older people.
• can guide older people as users of different services, including digital services.
• is able to assume responsibility for coordinating the overall care of an older person in the care team.
