Objective of the degree programme
From online studies in media production, you graduate as a Bachelor of Business Administration in Media Production who works on media projects in various fields. You manage projects from planning and financial management to implementation in ever-changing media environments that interest you. The training provides the basic skills and knowledge needed in the labor market, as well as the ability to continuously develop one's own competence. You can, for example, work as a project manager, coordinator or project professional in the media field in a company, community or as an entrepreneur. As a project professional who has graduated from these Business Administration studies works on media projects independently, as a member of a group or in cooperation with other professionals both domestically and internationally. The studies provides good skills for working online and networking.
Training is carried out as web-based study, so that it is possible to study even if you are currently working full time, regardless of location, in an online environment.
Structure and content of the degree programme
In the online studies of media production, it is possible to continue previously completed commercial studies or to complete an unfinished undergraduate Bachelor's Degree in Business combined with professional work experience into a degree of Bachelor of Business Administration (AMK) in Media Production. The size of the degree is 210 ECTS credits. During the studies, 150 ECTS credits will be awarded and the previously acquired training and work experience will replace 60 ECTS credits. Previous work experience may include media and communication projects or business activities, for example.
Professional studies in media production form the professional core of the degree. Professional studies consist of studies in project know-how, business competence, communication and concept design as well as creative design. The student learns the work of the project manager, project coordinator, producer or content provider working in media, communication or marketing projects.
The development of competence can be directed through free-elective studies and projects. Free-elective studies can be daytime courses in business studies, media or other fields of study at Turku University of Applied Sciences or online studies in higher education.
Studies include project studies where students apply their skills in practice. Projects are working life projects, research and development projects or student's own productions.
The studies include internships. During the internship, the students becomes acquainted with the tasks of their professional field in the work environment of choice. Internships and project studies give the student the opportunity to network with organizations of interest and to get acquainted with new job assignments.
At the final stage of the studies, a thesis is completed that deepens the student's professional skills.

Each student's degree is based on personal choices guided by the student’s own professional interest. The student prepares an annual individual study plan (ISP) with the tutor.
Studies in media production are mainly based on practical work supported by theory. Independent work, working online and implementing projects are an integral part of the degree.
Strong linkage to working life through projects and training, etc. provides a good opportunity for up-to-date and work-oriented training and opportunities for networking during the course of the studies.
Successful studying and working in production require self-initiative, ability to work in online environments, good general knowledge and broad interest in the media sector. In addition, one needs innovation, creativity, interaction, teamwork and leadership skills, problem-solving skills, responsiveness and readiness to change.
Objective
The aim of the degree of Bachelor of Business Administration, Media Production is to provide the capability to manage media projects from planning and financial management to implementation in constantly changing media environments. The studies emphasize project work, project finance, communication, written expression, concept design and teamwork. The aim of the degree is also to provide the basic skills and knowledge needed in the work communities and the ability to develop continually one’s own skills.
A trained project professional can work on media projects independently, as a member of a work group or in cooperation with other professionals both domestically and internationally.
Description of thesis
The thesis may be, for example, a development assignment, a project, a small-scale empirical study (survey, investigation), a combination of a production related to the professional field and a personal work-process analysis or a portfolio that reflects the advanced knowledge. The thesis can be incorporated into the student’s own work, project or internship.
Job opportunities
A graduate of Bachelor of Business Administration, Media Production can work in companies, associations or other communities, for example as a project manager or coordinator in communications or marketing. Graduates from the media production studies have been involved in social media marketing, social media analytics and content production, as event marketers and producers, as well as managers and coordinators. Jobs have been found for example in advertising and communications agencies, non-profit organizations, event agencies and various projects.

The students are also given the opportunity to study in other fields at the Turku University of Applied Sciences and extend their semester through contact teaching or online studies during the summer months.
Further information
Assessment of teaching and learning is a continuous and comprehensive process. The quality levels of learning and teaching are assessed through feedback discussions, exercises, essays, reports, analyzes and exams. As part of feedback and evaluation, peer review is also done in the online group. An online feedback system is in place to collect feedback on the implementation of studies. Experts who are outside the school can also be used for the evaluation.
Evaluation of the courses is usually done on a scale of 1 – 5. Some of the credits are evaluated on a scale Approved - Rejected. When using the Approved - Rejected -scale, the Implementation Plan determines which grade level the approved performance matches.
