Networks for working life – studies for highly educated immigrants: Networks for a career in Finland
Code: OSVERKS23
Descriptions
The study programme enables highly educated immigrants to develop their skills without having to obtain a new degree. Additionally, the programme supports students in networking through career guidance, mentoring, and internship included in the training. Students receive both group and individual guidance on studying and work-related issues.
The study programme is built according to the student's individual study plan and consists of the following studies:
• Introduction to higher education, 5 cr
• Finnish language, 5–10 cr
• Working life and career planning skills, 5 cr
• Elective studies, 5–10 cr
• Internship 10–15 cr
The studies can be completed flexibly in Finnish and/or English. Part of the teaching will be organised in both languages, if needed. Students can attend some courses of their own interest in degree study programmes, when the teaching language depends on the courses chosen by the student.
Objective
The study programme develops general study and working life skills, in addition to which students have the opportunity to take higher education studies in their chosen field. The study programme also develops Finnish language competence and networking skills both at different events and during the internship.
Development
Part of the teaching takes place as face-to-face teaching. The study programme also includes online learning and internship.
The teaching times depend on the course implementations chosen by the student. Most of the teaching is in the daytime, but some courses may include evening lessons.
