Objective
The student is able to
- describe and justify the differences of the structures of heavy-duty vehicles compared to cars and vans
- understand the operation of principles and subsystems not used in passenger cars
- explain solutions and principles used in heavy duty vehicles
- work in technical duties of heavy-duty vehicle service and maintenance.
- select the following based on the transportation duty: dimensions, masses, bodywork and load handling equipment.

- engines, drivetrains, frames, axles, tires, retarders, brake systems, electric and communication devices and legal requirements for the heavy-duty vehicles
- axle load calculations and dimensioning of the bodywork
- bodyworks and how to select them
- load handling equipment and how to select them
- load securing
- subframes
- selection of the cooling and heating equipment
- underrun protection
