Objective

The student can perform basic calculations of ship stability, both deterministic and probabilistic

Content

As the course deals with major safety issues of ship design, it starts with repetition of basics of stability, prior knowledge level assessment, and self-studies. The course topics are:
- Distance learning materials of ship stability for non- shipbuilders

- Cases of flooding and stability loss accidents of cargo and passenger vessels

- Principles of probabilistic approach to ship stability

- Simple examples of cargo vessels

- Case studies of passenger vessels

- Use of Onboard-NAPA in flooding simulations
