Objective
The circular economy module (15 credits) aims to understand the possibilites and challenges of circular economy to companies and societies. Circular economy is the new kind model for economy where materials and value circle and where products get extra value trough services and digitalization.
In addition the students will develop competences needed in work life such as customer oriented thinking, cooperation skills and project management skills. The aim is that students will use the knowledge in practice and they get to learn things in a new way.
Local companies are also active on the module.
Content
Students will understand the global limited resources (metals, minerals, energy, water, biomass, air, biodiversity) and how to use them in a sustainable way.
Students will know how to increase resource efficiency and circular economy by:
- development of new products and services
- minimizing waste
- efficient management of resources
- changing the consumption models
- new business models
- optimizing production
- better logistics
- different types of management and economical aspects
After the module the student can:
- work in a multidicipinary team
- think in a customer oriented way
- work in different kinds of networks and situations and present the ideas
- work independently using networks and other resources
- manage projects
