Objective

The student knows the refining methods of crude oil as well as the properties, requirements and classifications of motoring gasoline, diesel fuel and lubricants. He or she is able to describe the possibilities of alternative fuels in order to lower the greenhouse impact of fuel combustion. He or she is capable of utilizing his or her knowledge about lubrication mechanisms and selection of correct lubricants for the purpose in question.

FUEL TECHNOLOGY:
History of motoring gasoline, motor gasoline production and refining, requirements and key figures of gasoline, gasoline volatility, gasoline additives, low-emission gasoline qualities, gasoline of the future. Diesel fuel requirements, key figures of diesel fuels, environmental properties of diesel, cold-temperature properties and operation of diesel, diesel fuel of the future. Alternative motoring fuels (gaseous fuels, alcohols, renewable fuels, hydrogen), climate change control.
