10 meetings Thursdays at 16.15 - 17.45 at Kupittaa campus starting 22.9.2022 at ICT Joukahaisenkatu, classroom C3044.
This course is designed for Exchange Students. The course is a fun way to get to know Finnish language and Finnish everyday life. After the course students understand basic structures in the Finnish language and are able to cope in everyday situations on CEFR level A1.2.
Student will be familiar with Finnish as a language (basic features). He is able to introduce himself, ask simple questions and answer to them. The focus is in spoken language.
Introduction to Finnish, pronunciation, everyday phrases in Finnish, basic grammar; vocabulary, such as nationalities, food, colours, numbers, hobbies.
Objective

Materials
Material provided in the learning platform Itslearning and in class by teacher.
THE FIRST MATERIAL SHOULD BE PRINTED OR DOWNLOADED BY STUDENTS, BEFORE THE SECOND LESSON
Teaching methods
Lessons and practice in groups.
Meetings in the classroom, working in the town with an app and assignments online in the learning space Itslearning.
Active participation (student must attend at least 80% of the lessons) in the classroom activities, such as speaking exercises in pairs / small groups.
Exam schedules
Oral exam on the last week of the course + re-exam if needed
Pedagogic approaches and sustainable development
Based on Innopeda - method, learning real life communication by doing.
Student workload
Classroom activities + Oral exam 20 h (10 x 90 min)
Assignments in Itslearning: written/oral assignments, group work and research in internet, using the language in real life, independent studies 60 h.
All together appr. 80 h of studies for the student.
Evaluation methods and criteria
Oral exam (grade 0-5), five assignments (accepted/failed) of which 2 assignments are evaluated by grade 0-5
