Content scheduling

The students get to know a company that operates within their field of study and develops an understanding of what sort of workplaces there are for engineers within the field.

Objective

After completing the course a student can:
- find him/herself a work place in the field of his/her education
- complete work assignments together with workmates
- apply the knowledge and skills obtained during studies in work assignments
- describe the employer organization’s business idea, factors of profitability and elements of entrepreneurship
- evaluate the results of the work placement period.

Content

Getting familiar with the profession in the own field of technology.
It is possible to complete several work placement periods (á 5 cr) after each other in the same workplace. The minimum total extent of practice included in the B.Eng. degree is 30 cr.

Student workload

The students find field-related workplaces and strive to be part of the work community and to understand the ways of working in their respective training companies. They apply skills and knowledge acquired during various study units and understand what more it takes to become an engineer. They can describe the business idea of the practical training organisation and elements related to or affecting profitability and entrepreneurship. The students are expected to approach their training period with a spirit of conscious curiosity and desire to learn. They analyse their own performance and the learning outcomes achieved.

Jakso on hyväksytty, kun työ on tehty ja asianmukaisesti dokumentoitu ja raportoitu. Harjoitteluun liittyvät dokumentit palautetaan Optimassa tai ohjeistetun mukaisesti muulla tavalla koordinaattorille.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Opiskelija hankkii oman alansa työpaikan ja työskentelee siellä 7 viikon (262 t) ajan. Hän pitää työstään viikottaista päiväkirjaa Optimassa ja käy työpaikan edustajan (esimiehensä) kanssa palautekeskustelun harjoittelun lopuksi. Täytetyn päiväkirjan pohjalta hän pitää syksyllä harjoittelukoordinaattorin osoittamana aikana suullisen harjoitteluseminaariesityksen. Perustellusta syystä raportointitavaksi voidaan sopia myös kirjallinen raportti.

Further information

Useampi harjoittelujakso voidaan suorittaa peräkkäin. Jos opiskelija haluaa suorittaa alakohtaisen harjoittelun ja ammattiharjoittelun peräkkäin samassa työpaikassa, on toivottavaa, että harjoittelujakson vaihtuessa hän saa enemmän vastuuta tai esimerkiksi perehtyy uuteen osa-alueeseen/ toimintoon/laitteeseen yrityksessä. Ammattiharjoittelun suorittaminen edellyttää, että opiskelija on kerännyt koulutusalalla vähintään kahden vuoden opiskelua vastaavan opintopistekertymän.
