Content scheduling

Student knows Basic principles of animation, importance of rythm and timing.
He/she knows how to apply rules of animation to objects, animals and humans.
He/she knows digital 2D softwares.
Course will be in March-May.

Objective

Content

Students learn the basic principles of drawn animation by doing different exercises. Exercises begin with inanimate objects and their movements and move to living objects, animals and humans. During the course, the 2D program TVPaint and its use in animation and storyboard are studied.

Materials

Richard Williams: The animator's survival kit: [a manual of methods, principles and formulas for classical, computer, games, stop motion and internet animators] with the DVD box.

Teaching methods

During study period student practise animation skills by doing exercises with pen and paper. He/she also learns to use digital TVPaint software.

Pedagogic approaches and sustainable development

Contact teaching and independent work. Student does independent work with given exercises. During contact period teacher is giving feedback and shows how to make animation work better.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Feedback is given during the course. Movement, timing and rythm. All exercises has to be done.
