Oncology Nursing and Palliative Care 3 cr SYPHO
Objectives
Students will
- Learn to nurse patients with different types of cancers in various environments
- Become familiar with the main treatment methods used for cancer patients and in palliative care
- Know how to support the functional capacity, well-being and quality of life of cancer patients and work with customers and their family members as a member of a multiprofessional team
- Know how to assist cancer patients and their family members in safety and decision-making
- Become familiar with the safe and effective administration of pharmacotherapy for cancer patients and patients in need of palliative care
- Know how to provide humane palliative care to incurably ill and long-term patients, as well as to support their family members

Oncology Nursing
Palliative and End-of-Life Nursing
- Current state of cancer treatment
- Procedures and assistance methods used in the treatment of cancer patients
- Safe implementation of cancer treatment
- Services and health support for cancer patients and patients in need of palliative care
- Ethical challenges in the treatment of cancer patients and patients in need of palliative care
Oncology and Pharmacology 1 cr
- Common cancers, their examination and treatment

3op = 81t, josta lähiopetusta 24t (1t info, 3t luento, 4t posteritehtävien purkua, 4t potilastapauksien läpikäyntiä, 4t luokassa tapahtuvaa harjoittelua, 4t seminaariesitykset, 4t simulaatio)
Loput tunnit työpaja- ja itsenäistä työskentelyä (tenttialueeseen lukeminen, materiaaleihin tutustuminen, posterien ja simulaatioiden työstäminen sekä keskustelut, etukäteistehtävien tekeminen, Oppiportti: Saattohoidon verkkokurssi)
