Objective
After completing this course the student
- is able to interact with people from different cultures
- knows the various frameworks on cultures and have a better understanding of how each culture perceives i.e. time and space, face and face-saving, verbal and nonverbal communication
- appreciates the differences in cultural beliefs and communication practices
- is able to apply his/her knowledge and skills in working and communicating with ease and confidence in intercultural situations

Teaching methods
The course utilises active teaching and learning methods following the innovation pedagogy approach. Learning is based on initiatives, activity and interaction both in group meetings, small group work and independent work.
International connections
The course emphasizes interactivity, initiative and the ability to independent information search, which promotes the achievement of learning goals. The course is connected to working life in particular through a learning assignment.
Student workload
The course is 5 credits = 135 hours learning work,
which is divided into four campus lessons: Thu 11.1., Thu 1.2., Thu 1.3. and Fri 26.5. In addition to these are three reading circles and reporting each circle, a learning assignment (independent or pair work), and a 2-3 page long learning report at the end of the course.
