Objective

The objective of the course is to give the student basic knowledge in the Finnish language at the CEFR level A1.3
The student can use the most important expressions in common everyday situations.

Content

After passing the course the student is able to
- Tell about his or her life, hobbies and studies orally and in writing
- Manage in discussions about everyday situations
- To ask questions, make suggestions and requests as well as denials
- To read short texts and gain information from e.g. instructions and schedules.

Materials

The material and links in itslearning. You also need a learnbook in an electronical form or as a book:

An alternative is the book of

Teaching methods

To have a significant track or trace of the learned material, you should use the language. That is why some of the assignments will happen outside of the lessons.

By doing the weekly assignments in platform you will increase your language skills.

Attendance on the lessons at least 80%.

Exam schedules

There is no final exam on the course, but to pass the course you will have to return weekly assignments on the platform. The assignments will be graded with points. At the end the points will be changed into the final grade 0 - K5. See the table on the platform.

International connections

Working in the classroom, following the instructions on the lessons and in itslearning, working in pairs and in groups, learning sometimes outside of the classroom in the town center.

Completion alternatives

When the student is able to use Finnish in their everyday life, they can show their Finnish skills in a presentation and a written assignment. Please, contact the teacher of the implementation.

Student workload

The assignments will be graded with points. The points will be changed into the final grade 0 - K5. See the table on the platform.

Content scheduling

The aim of the course is to learn basic knowledge of Finnish focusing especially on the student´s practical language of everyday life and IT branch.

The course Finnish 1 consists of face-to-face lessons, once a week, starting in February 2021, distance learning, weekly assignments in itslearning, and an oral exam. You will find the instructions for distance work and assignments in itslearning.

The assignments must be returned until the last meeting during the course.

The assignments cannot be returned after the last meeting. If you did not reserve enough time to solve your assignments within the course dates, you are welcome to take part in the following implementation.
