Student workload

PRE-ASSIGNMENTS:

GET INSPIRED! The Internet is full of speeches from Martin Luther King, Jr.‘s “I Have a Dream” speech to inspiring TED Talks. Search for different speeches and watch at least three of them. What did you think of them? Who was your favorite speaker and why? What inspired you? What would you do differently? Write a short essay (1-2 pages) about your observations.

TUNE IN! Remind yourself of a specific time when you were speaking in front of an audience. What was the situation? What did you feel like before, during and afterwards? What are your overall strengths and weaknesses as a performer? What about your goals? Write a short essay (1-2 pages) about yourself as a speaker.

Please return the pre-assignments to the teacher’s email no later than August 5.
