Objective
The objective of the course is to learn the structure and design of an electricity distribution network. After completing the course, the student:
- Outlines the typical configurations and design of electricity distribution networks
- Can explain the main components of electrical distribution networks
- Can make dimensioning of electricity distribution network based on set goals
- Is familiar with at least one distribution network design software
- Can design a grid covering medium voltage grid, secondary substation, and low voltage grid, and select the needed components
Content
1. The operational objectives of electricity distribution networks and the regulations and instructions related to construction of electricity network
2. The structure and components of electricity distribution networks: cables, transformers, distribution cabinets, switchgears, protective devices, groundings
3. Design process: long-term planning, network planning, site planning, documentation
4. Network configurations and the techno-economical dimensioning of components
5. Protection of an electricity distribution network
6. Network information systems and design software
7. Reliability of electricity distribution networks
8. Electricity distribution network design (exercise)
