Objectives
Student
· is able to determine and record the needs of a medical surgical patient, plan and implement treatment, and assess the effects of treatment.
· recognises the changes caused by the illnesses and injuries of medical surgical patients to the patient and their families and friends.
· knows how to apply the methods of medical surgical nursing for individual patients.
· is able to guide and support patients and families in managing health problems as well as general lifestyle changes and rehabilitation required for the treatment of a medical surgical patient.
· can use customer-oriented teaching and guidance methods suitable for the situation to support the patient's commitment to care and self care.
· is familiar with the tasks and responsibilities of different professional groups and the significance of cooperation in maintaining and promoting the functional capacity of a medical surgical patient in a multiprofessional team.
· acts ethically in different care situations and in the work community.
· knows how to act in a manner that promotes occupational and patient safety.
· gains experience in pharmacotherapy skills related to the care of medical surgical patients (Medication Passport)
· depending on the possibilities, learns more about the special features of acute care, maternity care, nursing of children, young people and families, long-term medical care, mental health and psychiatric nursing, nursing of persons with disabilities, nursing of the elderly, outpatient health care, palliative nursing and terminal care clinical nursing
