Objective

Student:
- is able to communicate in basic care situations and procedures orally
- is able to provide information, request and direct in different situations politely and as required by the situation, and to justify treatment measures
- is able to communicate with the patient, family member, professional staff and the work community in varying situations
- understands colloquial language, some sayings and, if necessary, Finnish dialects
- is able to use Finnish for health care in general situations, for example, in different wards of a hospital, health centre and in home care
- understands the main points of various texts of health care documents
- is able to record and report matters in health care in Finland, taking care of patient safety
- is encouraged to communicate in Finnish in different situations of nursing and to communicate information about them both orally and in writing, and to evaluate their own competence and areas for development

Strengthening language from the point of view of health care and the nurse
- Versatile and justified verbal and written interaction situations in nursing
- Situational variation of language in interaction situations in the care sector (differences between formal and informal form of language)
- Expansion of vocabulary related to one's own professional field
- Understanding and producing professional texts, e.g.
o epicrisis, doctor's statements, procedure reports, patient instructions
- Studying the basic structures of the Finnish language, for example
o rections, verb tenses, diverse expressions of time, conjunctions
- Strengthening language learning strategies
