Objectives
Student:
• is familiar with the clinical pathway and treatment process of surgical patients and can work in a way that promotes patient safety
• understands the significance of lifelong learning in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of patient care and learns about the methods of assistance, examination and treatment of surgical patients
• knows how to work in a multiprofessional team to support the patient's self-treatment and to use different guidance methods and evidence-based information.
• develops their professional skills in teamwork and in different networks
• demonstrates initiative in nursing and develops self-management skills
• develops their aseptic competence in the nursing of perioperative patients
• learns about digital medical devices used in patient care

Learning methods: project workshop work, class practice, learning tasks, electronic exams

Exam schedules

Individual exam at Itsi at a time specified in the schedule. The time will be specified later. Materials may not be used in the exam.

A passed exam cannot be repeated, because the grade for the course is based on two separately assessed assignments (exam + care pathway assignment). If you want to increase the grade for the course, you can retake both assignments.

Retaking a failed/not-taken exam is agreed upon separately. A failed exam can be repeated twice (degree regulations).

Student workload

Learning tasks and student work dimensioning:
5 credits – student work = 135h
Time allocated for writing is at least one hour per 120 words. Reading is 15 hours/100 pages (medium difficulty)

Absences must be made up.

The numerical grade for the course is therefore the average of the exam and nursing pathway assignment. Rounding to the final grade is done up/down if necessary based on the criteria below.

HYL = 49% or less
T1 = 50-60%
T2 = 61–70%
H3 = 71-80%
H4 = 81-90%
K5 = 91%-

Information:
Does not demonstrate sufficient knowledge of basic concepts and objectives of the course.
Cannot justify or evaluate own views and solutions. Does not utilize scientific knowledge.

Skills:
Leaves assigned assignments undone.
Does not know key procedures and does not justify choices.
Presents incorrect solutions to problems.

Attitudes:
Does not receive or give feedback.
Does not reflect on or recognize development targets.

Can identify, name and define individual phenomena and basic concepts related to the course of study.
Utilizes professional knowledge.

Knows different ways of working, but cannot justify their choices or apply what they have learned to the situation.

Can receive and give feedback selectively.
Examines and evaluates things from their own perspective.
Identifies values ??and ethical principles that are important to their field.
Takes responsibility only for their own part in group work

Identifies what constitutes professional behaviour.
