Content scheduling

Lecture days and project work is scheduled for Wednesdays in weeks 3-21.
Teaching will be organized in Kupittaa Campus, Turku.

Note! This course is a joint implementation for both Finnish-speaking and international groups. The language of instruction and communication is English. You will get to practice what it’s like to work in a multinational group. You do not need excellent language skills to succeed in the course, and language proficiency is not assessed in the evaluation.

In March and April, the studying on this course happens mainly through training at the workplace. TUAS will organize the training places.

Objective

• you obtain knowledge of the everyday lives and challenges of the social service client groups
• you know how to apply the principles of sustainability in your work
• you master the basics of professional interaction in the work of social service professionals and know how to meet clients
• you are able to work in teams and participate in project planning and implementation responsibly
• you know how to act in the event of accidents, seizures and smaller accidents at home or outside work

With a valid (is valid for 3 years, the expiry date is written on the card) EA1 or EA2 certificate/card. Certified FRC first aid training (Red Cross) student gets the first aid part asked.
Competence is demonstrated by saving valid documents (both sides) as PDF files in the Itslearning environment.

If you have an approved recognition of prior learning from the client work part of this training (4 ETCS) DO NOT enroll to this implementation! Send email to teacher Riina Riihimäki to complete only the First Aid part of this course and get access to itslearning.

Student workload

Project internship 4 cr = 108 h pass/fail
First Aid 1 cr = 27 h pass/fail

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Accepted performance requires active participation in all group activities and final seminar, training in accordance with the instructions at the training place, and reporting.

First Aid (in English) accepted requires submission of a written reflection according to the instructions in Its learning.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Description of the assessment can be found in the training instructions in Itslearning.

Using AI in creating content for training reports or using AI as reference in training reports is forbidden because training reports are based on students’ own experiences, learning reflections, and theoretical justification based on references. Students can use AI for language planning and maintenance/care in training report, but this must be clearly told in Introduction of the report.

Failed (0)

The student has not actively participated in the group activities and has not been actively involved in guiding clients in the internship.

First Aid: the student has not submitted a written reflection according to the instructions in Itslearning.
