Objective

The student can calculate the floating position and the initial stability of a ship, both manually and with a computer program. The student can avoid the dangers of floatability and stability in his/his design work. The student can analyze stability-related problems. The student knows how to apply the stability rules and regulations in her/his design work.

Content

The focus of the Hydrostatics and Stability - course is on the basics of ship floating position and stability, and their impact on safety. Examples are analyzed manually and with computer programs based on lines drawings and hydrostatic calculations.
