In thesis, students demonstrate their readiness to work independently and critically use research-based knowledge in nursing and its development. Theses are linked to the research group and business and working life of the University of Applied Sciences. The topic of the thesis is related to an area that is significant for nursing, which allows the student to deepen their understanding and competence in this area. The thesis plan is a key stage of the thesis as a whole.

Registration for the course is through the Peppi system. Enrollment closes on the start date of the course. The course info is xx.xx.202x. Participation in the info event is mandatory and it is carried out as a contact teaching situation on campus.

Contents of the course:
Course info: objectives, implementation, tasks and assessment
The process of the thesis and its progress.
The thesis plan as a stage of the thesis.
Working in a course of study and tutoring.

During the course, the student draws up a thesis plan. The plan includes the following:
• Introduction to the topic of the thesis and the research or development challenge
• Conceptual background and outline of the thesis topic
• Objective, purpose and research or development tasks of the thesis
• Methodical solutions for the implementation of the thesis
• Reliability and ethics reviews
• Publication and timing plan
• Sources
• Any necessary attachments

As a rule, the thesis is done as a couple work or as a group of several students, and only in exceptional situations as individual work. The work is done in cooperation with the client offering the topic of the thesis. The design of the thesis is guided by the course teachers by group and thesis. Group tutoring takes place at times marked in the group's schedule. In addition to group counselling, there is also thesis-specific guidance. Guidance discussions are necessary for everyone, but the number may vary from partner to partner. The thesis plan is prepared on the reporting basis of the Turku University of Applied Sciences thesis, which is available on the Messi thesis instructions website.

The plan follows Turku University of Applied Sciences' source entry guidelines. The completed thesis plan is presented and opponed in the plan seminar. The course teachers will assess when the student's thesis plan is ready to be discussed at the seminar. For the evaluation and guidance of the phase of the plan, a draft version of the work will be returned to the teacher by xx.xx.202x on the agreed platform.

The completed thesis plan will be returned by xx.xx.202x to the agreed place (OneDrive folder) where the teacher and the students will pick it up for preparation for the seminar. The thesis group also familiarises themselves with the plans to be discussed and participates in the seminar to discuss the work.

The bachelor's thesis plan seminars (OPSU seminars) are xx.xx.202x as contact teaching on campus. Attendance at plan seminars, presenting one's own work, opting out of another's work and actively participating in other work is mandatory. If the student is prevented from attending the seminar (e.g. being hospitalized) for a valid reason, the substitution must be discussed separately with the supervising teacher.

After the thesis plan is approved, a thesis agreement is drawn up between the students, the client, and Turku University of Applied Sciences (Somaatti -form). The agreement signed by the client of the thesis, the student/students and the signer appointed by the education manager of Turku University of Applied Sciences is stored in the place reserved for the thesis agreements of the University of Applied Sciences.
