Content scheduling
In this thesis, students demonstrate their readiness to work independently and critically use research-based knowledge in nursing and its development. The theses are connected to the research group and business of the University of Applied Sciences. The topic of the thesis is related to an area that is significant for nursing, which allows the student to deepen their understanding and competence in this area.
Creating a thesis plan:
Conceptual background of the thesis, objective of the thesis, purpose and research/development tasks, methodological solutions of the thesis, reliability and ethics, timing plan
Course info for week 2.
Work and group controls start at week 2 and can be seen in the lock.
The work is done in cooperation with the client.
In week 40 there are thesis plan seminars (OPSU).
The completed thesis plan will be presented and opponed at the plan seminar in week 12.
The plan to be processed will be returned at an agreed location.
Attendance and active participation in plan seminars is mandatory for all.

Objectives
Student:
• knows the nature and process of health care related development work and research process.
• Deepens competence in information retrieval and is able to critically assess national and international research data.
• Knows how to create a workplace-oriented research and development project plan
• Recognises workplace-oriented development needs and is able to draw up a customer-oriented, sustainable and economically viable research or development plan, drawing on the opportunities provided by technology.
• Knows how to prepare press releases and other documents required in research and development projects.
• Knows how to act as an expert in nursing in different workplace oriented development and research projects
• Knows how to act as an expert in nursing and masters professional communication and interaction in different workplace-oriented development and research projects.
• Works in a goal-oriented and responsible manner in the thesis process while utilising guidance in a manner that promotes their thesis.
• Understands the principles of good scientific practice and is able to present the progress of their work and give and receive constructive feedback.
• Presents a written thesis plan and acts as an opponent for another thesis as agreed.

Pedagogic approaches and sustainable development
Weekly workshop work and guidance discussions with your own course as well as your own thesis group on campus or through Zoom or Teams.
The learning platform is It ́s Learning, with the whole process of the thesis.
Compulsory thesis plan seminars on campus.
Completion alternatives
If a bachelor's thesis and/or a master's thesis have been previously completed, the student can apply for credit for this course. The reporting part of the thesis (8 ECTS) and the maturity sample in so-called article form remain to be completed through the credits. You can find information on Messi here.
Student workload
The scope of the course is 4 ECTS (108 h), and is related to the online studies of research, development and innovation studies that have started above, as well as to the reporting and maturity sample course of the thesis that will start later.
The thesis is done in pairs or in a group of several students, if the thesis is part of a larger project. Only for specific reasons can the thesis be done alone.
The course starts with two hours of information, where groups and topics are shared.
The preparation of the thesis plan proceeds through independent and group work as well as steering discussions obtained in the workshops.
The completed thesis plan will be presented and opponed at the plan seminar in week 12. The plan to be processed will be returned to the agreed location.
The plan seminar is on campus and participation is mandatory. Substitution is discussed separately with the supervising teacher.
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
Opinnäytetyön suunnitelma on hyväksytty, kun se täyttää opinnäytetyön suunnitelman yleiset vaatimukset ja sen pohjalta voidaan edetä opinnäytetyön toteutukseen.
Suunnitelma sisältää teoreettisen viitekehyksen, opinnäytetyön tavoitteen, tarkoituksen ja tutkimuskysymykset tai kehittämistehtävät, tutkimus- tai kehittämistyön menetelmälliset ratkaisut, luotettavuus- ja eettisyystarkastelun sekä aikataulun ja käytetyt lähdetiedot.
Hylätty suunnitelma edellytetään muokattavaksi siten, että sitä voi käyttää opinnäytetyön toteutukseen, jolloin se tulee olla hyväksytty.
Evaluation methods and criteria
Accepted performance of task returns on the It ́s learning platform.
Participation (mandatory) in the thesis plan seminar.
The absence will be discussed with the supervising teacher and the absence will be replaced by a written briefing of the seminar work.
The thesis plan and opponation are assessed on a scale of Accepted - Abandoned.
The thesis agreement must be signed electronically and stored in a storage location.
