Objective

SPECIALISATION IN MIDWIFERY 2 7 cr KäER2
OBJECTIVES
- Students will know how to plan, provide, document and evaluate nursing as multiprofessional team members for pregnant and postpartum women, healthy newborns, newborns requiring intensive care and gynaecological patients.
- Students will learn to provide advice, guidance and treatment to patients and their family members in questions regarding care, pharmacotherapy, nutrition, exercise and hygiene in the field of sexual and reproductive health and midwifery.
- Students will comply with the ethics of midwifery and the applicable guidelines and legislation.
- Students will know how to support the patient’s empowerment.
- Students will master aseptic techniques.
- Students will learn to use the ward’s applications for electronic documentation and to document key issues in the database.

- The study units are practical training units that meet the requirements of the EU/2005 directives.
- Midwifery training in units providing nursing for pregnant and postpartum women, healthy newborns, newborns requiring intensive care and gynaecological patients

STUDENT´S TASKS AND DUTIES:
- setting goals for practical training and uploading those to Sopro Online-application at the end of the first week of practical training
- mid-term evaluation discussion with supervisor and written report of that discussion to Sopro Online-application
- final evaluation discussion with supervisor and written report of that discussion to Sopro Online-application
- reporting working hours to Sopro Online-application
STUDENT´S WORKLOAD:
- 7 credits = 189 hours

Evaluation methods and criteria

Evaluation criteria in intranet Messi.
Supervisor´s feedback (midterm and final evaluations) and self-evaluation.
Final grade can be given, when supervisor and teacher have approved working hours and evaluations.
