Objective

The object of the course: You will continue to learn the basics of the French language and the culture of French speaking countries. By the end of the course, you are able to use simple phrases and sentences in spoken and written production. You expand your vocabulary and knowledge of language structures needed in everyday situations. You will be able to act in accordance with the norms of French culture in typical communication situations. Course competences: The course prepares and equips you to act and work in an international and multicultural environment. The learning objectives of the course: You can interact in simple and routine everyday situations, although problems in pronunciation and pauses may affect communication. You understand the main points of a simple text. You are able to write a simple text using the vocabulary and structures you have learned on the course. You understand the cultural differences between your home country and France. Starting level: A1.1 Objective: A1.2-A.2 (according to CEFR)

Content

Do you want to deepen your knowledge on the French language after the basics? Come and learn more about the French language and culture! In the course you will learn - more about French pronunciation - to use the French language in everyday interaction situations (Telling about yourself, describing past experiences, housework, travelling, clothes, studies and work) - to know more about the characteristics of the culture of French-speaking countries. The course also deals with the basic grammar of the French language. You will learn - the past tense (le passé composé) of regular and irregular verbs -near future, present progressive, near past -the place and form of adjectives and adverbs -ordinal numbers Starting level: A1.1 Objective: A1.2-A.2 (according to CEFR)

Teaching methods

Verkkototeutus 14.1.-6.5.2025. Aikataulu: Luennot tiistaisin Zoomissa klo 16.00-18.30. Säännöllinen luennoille osallistuminen on osa kurssin suorittamista. Kurssin suoritus: Kurssilla osallistut viikottaisille Zoom-luennoille sekä harjoittelet itsenäisesti suorittamalla harjoitustehtäviä verkossa. Lisäksi kurssilla on 2 videotehtävää, jotka palautetaan opettajalle. Arvointi: Ison loppukokeen sijaan kurssilla on 2 pienempää välitestiä sekä lyhyt suullinen loppukoe, joka suoritetaan pareittain/ryhmissä. Tentit sekä arvioitavat tehtävät arvioidaan asteikolla hyväksytty/hylätty. Huom! Kurssiarvointi on syksystä 2024 alkaen hyväksytty/hylätty. Jos haluat numeroarvioinnin (1 – 5), se on mahdollista saada erillisenä todistuksena. Tarve numeeriseen arviointiin on ilmoitettava opettajalle heti opintojakson alussa. Arviointiasteikkoa ei voi vaihtaa hyväksytty/hylätty -arvioinnista numeeriseen sen jälkeen, kun ensimmäinen tehtävä tai tentti on arvioitu. Vaadittavat pohjatiedot: Ranskan alkeet 1 (5 op) Jamkissa TAI Eurooppalaisen viitekehyksen taitotaso A1.1 TAI lukion B3-ranskan 1.-2.-kurssit tai niitä vastaavat tiedot ja taidot

Exam schedules

Kaksi pienempää välitestiä sekä ryhmissä/pareittain suoritettava suullinen loppukoe. Lisäksi kurssilla on kaksi arvioitavaa videotehtävää. Kurssiarviointi hyväksytty/hylätty. Tenttiuusintamahdollisuus järjestetään 13.5.2025.

Student workload

Kontaktiopetus 35h, itsenäinen/virtuaalinen työskentely 97h, tentit 3h. Yht. 135h (yhden opintopisteen työmäärä on 27 tuntia).

Qualifications

French for beginners 1 (5 ECTS) at JAMK or CEFR level A1 (https://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/sites/default/files/cefr-en.pdf) or successfully completed French courses 1–2 in a Finnish high school as a B3-language.
