Objective

To enhance the student’s understanding of the different tasks and challenges in management and leadership. Leadership is multi-faceted and here focus is on human resource management (HRM), change management and the handling of conflicts. The course provides the student with a broader understanding of the roles and responsibilities in personal leadership on different management levels as well as strategic leadership. In addition to this, the aim is to bring an understanding of the challenges in leading multicultural teams in global organizations, sometimes as remote-teams.

Content

The course covers the following topics: - Framing the field of leadership. - Basics in HRM, fundamentals of leadership and organizational knowledge transfer. - Personnel rewards, appraisals, - mentoring, coaching as tools in leading a global team. - Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The leadership roles and responsibilities in furthering CSR and issues related to business ethics. - Change management associated with growth, but also downsizing and restructuring businesses in economic crises. - Health, safety and environmental issues in everyday leadership.

Qualifications

None, but experience from working life is an advantage.
