Teaching methods
The classes are given in English. Each class lasts 4 hours (breaks included) once a week (mondays).
The teacher explains the concepts using powerpoint materials and using the blackboard.
Exam schedules
The exam can be repeated, following typical procedure guidelines of Turku AMK.
Pedagogic approaches and sustainable development
Each class includes the teaching of several concepts.
Each concepts is explained graphically on the blackboard, at the same time than necessary formulae is developed and introduced.
The teacher makes questions to the students, so that each explained concept is related to a real life situation.
The teacher solves an example of each explained concept, and explains the correct solving strategy applied. After that, the teacher propoposes 1 or 2 exercises to be solved by the students immediately related to explained concept. One or two students are asked to solve the exercise in front of the rest of the class, and explain orally the followed procedure. General discussion about the applied methods is done.
Next concept is started, and so on until class ends. The students might get maximum 2 or 3 exercises to solve within the next 3 days, and to be delivered before the next class.
Student workload
The course is evaluated mostly based on the results of the final exam (66 %).
17 % is based on participation on the classes and orally presentation
17 % is based on the correctness of the exercises performed at home and delivered to the teacher
