Student workload

The scope of the student's work is agreed on per student, depending on the amount of the work prepared and performed.

Content scheduling

After completing the Baroque, Renaissance or Medieval Music Band course, the student:

- is familiar with the Early Music repertoire produced during the period and the performance practices of the period in question, and prepares the agreed repertoire for the performance level
- is able to specify and implement musical characteristics specific to the Medieval, Renaissance or Baroque era according to the content of the period in question, according to their own instrument
- is able to work in ensembles of different sizes consisting of instrumentalists and/or singers
- is able to analyse the music and poetry of works from different eras and is aware of the different roles of the members of the band in the works in question

Content scheduling

Various Ensembles of Early music produce works according to the supply of the semester from medieval repertoire to baroque.
In the autumn of 2023, the ensemble of medieval song will be produced. Singers are accompanied by medieval instruments (organetto, dulcimer) to the teacher of the course.
In addition, in the autumn you can prepare solo works of early baroque with continuo.
Includes 3-5 singers, cellist and harpsichordist.

In other musical work wishes and suggestions, you can contact the teacher of old music bands Uli Kontu-Korhonen directly.

The ensembles will perform at a concert in Maaria Church on the 7th of December at 6 p.m.

Teaching times are: Monday at 10-12 Crichton Hall and Tuesday at 10-14 class A224
Plans for spring 2024 will be specified later.
