Objective

The student is able to
- Explain health related fitness as a phenomenon and the factors related to its assessment.
- Describe muscle strength, flexibility, general endurance, and motor control as phenomena.
- Identify the factors affecting muscle strength, flexibility, general endurance, and motor control.
- Investigate as well as reliably and reproducibly assess client’s muscle strength, flexibility, general endurance, and motor control from the perspective of health related fitness.
- Draw conclusions from the assessment and measurement results and set goals to maintain or improve health related fitness based on them.
- Apply evidence-based principles of training muscle strength, flexibility, and general endurance to promote well-being and physical fitness, considering the capabilities of clients of different ages.
- Recognize the importance of the balance between a client’s exertion and recovery as part of physical fitness training.
- Report the health related fitness assessment comprehensively according to the principles of structured documentation.

Content

Assessment, measurement, and reporting of health related fitness. Principles of reliable measurement and testing, factors affecting reliability, documentation, goal setting, and testing safety.

Different aspects of strength and their measurement: Principles of RM (Repetition Maximum) and strength training, measurement of mobility and principles of training, measurement of general endurance and principles of training, measurement of movement control as part of overall health related fitness, various health related fitness tests, and the utilization of technology in measuring and training health related fitness and its components.
