Objective

Students will

- Understand the fundamental role that the population’s health and well-being and the underlying factors play in health promotion
- Become familiar with regional, national and international research and development programmes for health promotion and the regulations governing them
- Master the concepts, knowledge and fundamental values required for health promotion expertise
- Become familiar with the ethical foundation and fundamental values of health promotion
- Learn to apply basic health promotion knowledge in their activities
- Understand the structures and development challenges of health promotion in the context of modern social development
- Analyse and appraise studies describing the population’s health and well-being, as well as other current information in the context of health promotion development

Content

- Fundamental values and knowledge of health promotion
- Salutogenesis, health literacy and its support, self-care
- International and national programmes and strategies
- Life-cycle approach, environmental health, cultural well-being, literacy of population
- Assessment of the population’s health and well-being
- Structures of health promotion (changing operating environments and regulations, social welfare and health care reform)
- The future of health promotion and related development challenges

Student workload

Opintojakson suorittamiseksi opiskelijan tulee tehdä yksi kirjatentti, yksi ryhmätyö (kirjallinen työ), yksilöllinen pohdintaosuus ryhmätyöhön sekä osallistua aktiivisesti lähiopetukseen ja seminaareihin.

Evaluation methods and criteria

Kirjatentti arvioidaan asteikolla hyväksytty/hylätty.
Kirjalliset ryhmätyöt arvioidaan seuraavilla kriteereillä: 1 Työn sisältö, 2 Teoreettiset lähtökohdat 3 Työn loogisuus, jäsentely ja rakenne, 4 Kirjallisen työn ohjeiden noudattaminen (AMK:n ohjeistus, muotoseikat), 5 Pohdinta ja analysointi. Kirjalliset työt arvioidaan numeraalisesti asteikolla T1-K5.
Opintojakson kokonaisarvosana muodostuu kirjallisen ryhmätyön arvosanasta ja kunkin opiskelijan omasta osuudesta, joka voikorottaa, laskea tai pitää samana kirjallisen ryhmätyön arvosanaa.
