The students progress in their own schedule.

Objective

The student is able to use statistical methods to analyse and assess quantitative quality management data and present the results graphically. The student knows what kinds of statistical methods can be applied in quality control, process management and process development.

Content

• The basics of statistical analytics: distribution processing, principles of probability, basic principles of correlation and regression anlyses • Graphical presentation of statistical data • Process competency and how to measure it • Statistical process control

Location and time

The course is a non-stop online course. You can do it independently and at your own pace in Moodle learning environment. However, it's important to allocate sufficient time for independent study. For a 5-credit course, the estimated workload is 135 hours. Course credits are recorded in the study register only 1.9. - 7.9.2025 and 12. - 18.1.2026. To enhance learning, there is a virtual Q&A session once a month (except for holiday periods) where the teacher is available. Any topic related to the course can be discussed there. Participation in virtual Q&A sessions is not compulsory.

Teaching methods

Course level: For Master´s students only Independent studying Assignments Exam in an electronic exam system. Prerequisite for the course: Completed university degree, Finnish language skills.

Exam schedules

The exam can be taken at the end of August or December, with exact dates to be announced later. Students can register for the exam once they achieve at least 50% of the maximum score on each set of assignments. The student can take the exam a maximum of three times (the actual exam and two retakes).
