Objective

After completing the course, the student is able to

- distinguish between opinions and everyday knowledge, as well as scientific knowledge
- assess the reliability of information and sources
- obtain information from different channels
- explain the basics of legislation on the openness of government activities
- explain the importance of the Guidelines for Journalists and the principles of professional ethics in information gathering
- describe the rules of the game for journalistic interviews
- illustrate the responsibilities and duties of journalists as social actors

Content

The students familiarise themselves with information gathering and source criticism as key tools for journalists. They practice critical information gathering from different sources. The students familiarise themselves with the Guidelines for Journalists and ethical practices in the field with examples. Students get acquainted with the legislation on openness from the point of view of journalistic work and get involved in the ethical practices of journalistic interviewing.
