Objective
The objective of the course is to familiarize the student with building automation systems. After completing the course the student:
- Can describe the structure, common components, and methods of implementation of building- and home automation systems
- Can interpret the essential rules, instructions and standards for implementing building automation systems
- Can design a specification of an automation system for a residential building, and select the necessary components
- Is familiar with the installation and parameter settings of building automation system in practice

1. Introduction to building automation: need and objectives, peripheral devices and systems connected to building automation
2. The structure and components as well as measuring and control properties of building automation systems
3. Specifications and design of the building automation system
4. Safety systems, measuring systems, data transmission
5. Installation of building automation system (laboratory exercise)
