Programme description

Diploma of Higher Education in Engineering and ICT consists of 60 ECTS university-level studies building competencies needed by customers and work communities to develop their operations.

The curriculum is based on Turku University of Applied Sciences existing curricula in fields of ICT, Mechanical Engineering, Energy and Environmental Engineering, and Construction and Municipal Engineering.

The studies are divided into common Finnish studies, field-specific engineering studies, and work practice according to the student's individual study plan.

Competence objectives

The aim of the Higher Education Diploma is to enable the identification and perfection of one' competencies, the construction of professional networks and the development of Finnish proficiency to meet the demands of the professional life. The studies support and accelerate employment, that is often hindered due to insufficient skills in the Finnish language and lack of networks.

The Diploma, which has a duration of 1.5 years, provides highly skilled immigrants with a significantly faster pathway than a degree programme to demonstrating their own competence and, therefore, possibly, to finding employment.

Assessment methods may vary depending on which courses students attend. However, as a rule, the final evaluation of the courses is carried out on a scale of 0 to 5.
